Take One - News report writing and presenting!!
In Room 8 we have been learning about how to write reports for different purposes. Two of the reports we have learnt about so far are information and news reports. Below are some news reports we wrote and presented to one another. We were told the news story was to be about John Key's decision to stop education for disabled children. The students of Room 8 had to think about the implications of this from a variety of sources. Then they wrote a report where they had to put their own facts in and interview people that would be affected by this decision to see what they had to say. Hope you enjoy!

Soccer Drills
We have been learning to kick a soccer ball around without losing control of it, so we put some cones out and had to zig zag through them with a ball. It was hard trying to not hit the cones and try and kick quickly without losing the ball by kicking too hard. Good job guys for being resilient and pushing through even when the ball had a mind of its own...

Science - Making Gloop
We decided to make gloop in Room 8 - 'boy did we make some mess' (luckily we decided to do this out on the field). We invited Room 5 to join in with us, seeing as it was such a beautiful sunny day and a nice way to end the week. We were a little disappointed as our gloop didn't turn out exactly how it should have and was a little runny. Next time we would add less water and use more cornflour. It is amazing how the gloop can turn from a solid to a liquid. We are adding the recipe if any of our parents would like to try this recipe out at home.
GLOOP:
GLOOP:
Ingredients
2 cups cornflour
1 cup cold water
1 cup cold water
Instructions
Pour the cornflour into a bowl. Add the cold water slowly, stirring constantly and stop when the water is barely absorbed by the cornflour.
The resulting solution is fascinating to play with. It can be scooped up with the fingers as a mouldable material, but flows like liquid back into the bowl. It will brush off clothing as a dry powder.
I have included some photos of the process in making the gloop:
