Room 8 have been introducing a few classes at Reremoana the game 'Capture the flag'. It is a real strategy game and LOTS of fun! So much so that Room 8 wants to play it all day instead of being inside ( I don't know why...). Below are some photos of our guards and runners. Ask your kids to explain to you how to play and if you can get enough people together you will be able to have a go.

Solar Eclipse
On the 14th of November at 10.27 New Zealand experienced a solar eclipse. We thought that the whole sky might go black. It didn't although it got very very cold at that time! Below are some photos that we took of the moon covering the sun. (the photos haven't shown the eclipse like we had hoped)... We had to be really careful while trying to observe the sun as if you look directly into it you can be blinded!!!

Take One - News report writing and presenting!!
In Room 8 we have been learning about how to write reports for different purposes. Two of the reports we have learnt about so far are information and news reports. Below are some news reports we wrote and presented to one another. We were told the news story was to be about John Key's decision to stop education for disabled children. The students of Room 8 had to think about the implications of this from a variety of sources. Then they wrote a report where they had to put their own facts in and interview people that would be affected by this decision to see what they had to say. Hope you enjoy!
