Persuasive Writing

Room 8 all had to write to persuade an audience of why they should be given pocket money... they had to focus on using rhetorical questions, being able to back up their ideas with evidence. Below are some examples of some of them... Enjoy

‘Why I should get pocket money‘           By Calix

To get pocket money I could do jobs. Jobs like doing dishes, or mowing my lawns and other jobs. 

Another reason is to help other people at their jobs. Their job might be a cleaning job (not so easy) or concreting (even harder!). 

A further reason is to help a family member move house. I could unpack some things or move boxes to earn money.

So I hope I have persuaded you why you should give me lots of pocket money!

‘Why I should get pocket money‘           By Katie

“Listen up parents, do you have too much money stuffed in YOUR pockets”? Well I’ve got the cure for you. If you give me pocket money, it will keep your pockets empty and mine full. 

It all adds up in life. Pocket money is all about being paid for the work you complete, which will help me learn to save money so when I’m older I am more responsible with my money.

It doesn’t matter how much money I’m given. Maybe just $5 a week for different jobs or a variety of amounts depending on the type of job. (Example - vacuuming $2, depending on the area) etc. While I’m doing the chores you will be able to chill out, relax and enjoy some peace and quiet. 

If I have my own money I won’t be pestering you for toys, electronics, food, trips to places, or books. You will be left alone (for a little while at least!)

I’ll donate money to local charity. I’ll also do jobs for free, it will make such a difference in the world.

Education is probably the most important reason why I need pocket money. I would buy text books or maybe even an ipad if I need to.

In conclusion I hope I have persuaded you to give me all your money!!!

“Do you see my empty pockets, with no bling bling in them?”. Well I’m going to persuade you why I should have pocket money.

Firstly I need to learn how to save so I can plan ahead for my future. I will look after each and everyone of my friends and to learn how to be a responsible person. 

Secondly I will learn to be more generous with my money by helping friends and family to buy presents, food or clothes.

Finally I’m going to work really hard for my pocket money by doing chores like doing dishes, helping family and friends and washing the car.
